“I’m Going to Disneyland” — Creator Faire Volunteers are our Champions

Ever since the 1987 Super Bowl ad linking championship sports teams to Disneyland visits, a trip to the popular theme park has been a popular way to celebrate a victory while escaping the everyday.

Thanks to the generosity of the Disney parks, some of the January 26, 2019 Creator Faire volunteers get the same privilege.

Each year, Disney Parks celebrates family volunteering by awarding one-day passes to select nonprofits. What better way to give away four (more or less depending on your immediate family size) of these Parkhopper tickets to Disneyland and California Adventure — and show our deep gratitude — than to draw a name from the list of nearly 100 incredible Creator Faire volunteers?

Volunteers are vital to this extraordinarily complex annual community event! They help with everything from organizing stations of their own to setting up the many rooms of equipment, from guiding students through the activities to cooking delicious food that feeds their busy brains, to cleaning it all up at the end.

Creator Faire Volunteers

By our quick calculations, the 2018 event took more than 65 parent (and grandparent) volunteers to pull off — plus the patience and commitment of dozens of their children before, during, and even after the event during an all-hands-on-deck cleanup.

Last year, Matt Weekley was the lucky winner.

Who will join Super Bowl champs, Miss America, Santa Claus, and Bruce Springsteen in exclaiming “I’m going to Disneyland!” in January 2019?

THE GOLDEN RULE — Shining support from the Petaluma Kiwanis Club

One of the central tenets of the international Kiwanis Club is applying the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

So it’s especially appropriate that the local Petaluma Kiwanis Club has been a Gold Sponsor of the Creator Faire for the past two years — and will join us once again in sponsoring the January 26, 2019 event!

Every Kiwanis club is given the freedom to choose projects to support that best meet the needs of the children in their local community. In Petaluma, our local chapter believes deeply in the value of providing the community’s children with opportunities to work, play, and grow together — a great fit for the mission of the Creator Faire.

Chartered in 1954, the Petaluma Kiwanis Club donates about $80,000 every year to education scholarships, community projects and non-profit organizations like the River Montessori Foundation. They also have their own service projects and are proud sponsors of student clubs and projects at many other local schools.

Around the world, Kiwanis members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $100 million every year for communities, families and projects. Talk about a commitment to our children!

Learn more about this supportive organization by visiting their website or their Facebook page — or jump right in and join one of their many meetings as an honored guest. Meetings are held every Tuesday at noon at the Boulevard Café & Grill in Petaluma, except the 4th week of every month, which is a 6:00PM Wednesday dinner at the same location.

Thank you, Petaluma Kiwanis Club, for you continued support!!!

Another Local Business Gives Back!

Since 1946, Friedman’s has been a community stronghold – first in Petaluma, then throughout Northern California. They’ve made it a point of pride to establish within their own community, to get involved, stay true to their local roots and operate a family-owned and independent business with integrity.

Thanks to the generosity of this local home improvement store, the River Montessori Foundation is excited and able to purchase $100 worth of much needed supplies for the 2018 Creator Faire!

Thanks, Friedman’s! We hope to see your family on January 27.

Gold Sponsor ~ Kiwanis!!!!!

We are thrilled to thank and welcome back for the 2nd year as our top event sponsor, The Petaluma Kiwanis Club!

The Petaluma Kiwanis Club, which was chartered in 1954, focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time. Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis Club and the Petaluma Kiwanis are no exception.

Each year, the Petaluma Kiwanis Club donates about $80,000 to education scholarships, community projects and non-profits organizations just like the River Montessori Foundation. They also have their own service projects and are proud sponsors of student clubs and projects at the many local schools.

By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. Kiwanis believe, when you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, GREAT things happen!

We believe this too!

The Creator Faire is about bringing the whole community together to provide our children an opportunity to experience hands-on art and sciences in a fun and safe environment.

We are thrilled to thank, partner with and welcome back, for the 2nd year in a row, the Petaluma Kiwanis Club, as the Creator Faire’s top supporter, the Gold Sponsor!
